If a stone is thrown on a glass it gets shattered but a bullet makes only a small hole but why

small hole is made by a fast moving bullet fired from a gun in the window while passing through it. Because the bullet strikes the window at the very small portion and makes it to get into motion for a very short time due to its high speed whereas the remaining portion of the window remains at rest due to inertia of rest.
