GIVEN :

A STUDENT SCORES 30%

AND FAILS BY 45 MARKS

______________________________

LET,

100% MARKS BE :

100X

_____________________________

STUDENT SCORED 30% MARKS

30 / 100 * 100X

30X.

______________________________

2ND STUDENT SCORED 42% MARKS

HE GOT 45 MORE THAN PASSING MARKS

______________________________

42 % MARKS :

42 % OF 100X

42 / 100 * 100X

42X

______________________________

BY THE CONDITION :

30X + 45 = 42X - 45

45 + 45 = 42X - 30X

90 = 12X

X = 90 / 12

X = 7.5

PASSING MEANS :

30X + 45

30 * 7.5 + 45

225 + 45

270 MARKS
