Let us consider that ABCD is a parallelogram.

Definition of a parallelogram :

  • A basic quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides is known as a parallelogram.
  • A parallelogram's opposite or facing sides are of equal length, and the parallelogram's opposite angles are of equal measure.

Explanation -

Consider parallelogram ABCD,

Given that AB||CD, therefore for parallelogram ABCD  we will also get BC||AD.

BD is the diagonal.

Consider ΔABD and ΔBCD,

Where, ∠BDC = ∠ABD.   ...... (1)

∠ ADB = ∠ DBC               ...... (2)

As BD = BD (Common diagonal)

So, by ASA congruency (Angle Side Angle ) we get ,

                        Δ ABD ≅ ΔBCD

Therefore , AD = BC and AB = DC (CPCT)

The answer is AB= CD.
