AC = BC Hence, Proved.

GIVEN

AB = CD

TO FIND

To prove AC = BD

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

It is given,

AC = CD (Given)

Let us add a common line segment BC to LHS and RHS

Therefore,

AC + BC = CD + BC

According Euclid's axiom, if equal value is added to equal then, The new values are also equal.

We know that,

AC + BC = AC (Equation 1)

and,

CD + BC = BC (Equation 2)

Form equation 1 and 2 we get,

AC = BC Hence, Proved.
