Answer:

21978 * 4  = 87912

c = 9

Step-by-step explanation:

abcde * 4  = edcba

=>  abcde

     *       4

----------------

    edcba

10000e + 1000d + 100c + 10b + a  = 4 ( 10000a + 1000b + 100c + 10d + e)

e ≥ 4   & a ≤ 2    as both numbers ar 5 digits

&  a  = 4e    => e  = 8     & a = 2

=> 4d + 3  =  b

& 4 b + carried over= d  ( d with out any carrover)

=> b = 0  or 1    ( as a = 2)

d can be 7 => b = 31 => b = 1

b = 1   & d  = 7

a  = 2  , b = 1  , d  = 7  , e  = 8

using these values

80000 + 7000 + 100c + 10 + 2  = 4 ( 20000 + 1000 + 100c + 70 + 8)

=> 87012 + 100c = 4 * 21078 + 400c

=> 300c = 2700

=> c = 9

21978 * 4  = 87912
