=>an = -2n + 5

Now we can evaluate

=> a1 = -2(1)+5 = 3

=> a2 = -2(2)+5 = 1

=> a3 = -2(3) +5 = -1

.................

..................

=> an = -2n + 5

so we know that common difference(d)

is difference of two successive terms .

=) d = a2 - a1

=> d = 1 - 3 = -2 answer.
