Given :-

  • An angle is 20° less than its supplementary angle

To Find :-

  • The measure of the larger angle.

Solution :-

~Here, we're given that an angle is 20° less than it's supplementary angle . So , firstly we'll assume that angle as a variable and form an equation according to the question. After solving that equation we'll get the required angle.

As we know that ,

Sum of supplementary angles is 180°

  • Let the first angle be 'x'
  • other angle will be '180-x'

_____________

According to the question :-

⟶ ( 180 - x ) - x  = 20

⟶ 180 - 2x = 20

⟶ 2x = 180 - 20

⟶ 2x = 160

⟶ x = 160 ÷ 2

x = 80°  ( smaller angle )

180 - x  = 100° ( larger angle )

_____________

Therefore,

  • The measure of the larger angle is 100°
