IN, 2 secs it falls to 20 m
So in 1 sec it will fall to( 20/2)m i.e.10m
therefore in 1/2 sec it will to (10×1/2)m i.e 5 m

avalanche fall 1.25 m  in 1/2 sec if it falls 20 m in 2 secs (using gravity concept)  .  avalanche fall 5 m  in 1/2 sec if it falls 20 m in 2 secs  using simple algebra

Step-by-step explanation:

if we use simple algebra

then

Distance fall in 2 sec   = 20 m

Distance fall in 1 sec  = 20/2 = 10 m

Distance fall in 1/2 secs =  10 * 1/2 = 5 m

if we use gravity

then Distance Covered in  2 Sec = 20 m

S = ut + (1/2)at²

u = ?

a = g = 10 m/s²

S = 20 m

t = 2 sec

=> 20 = 2u  +  (1/2)(10)2²

=> 20 = 2u + 20

=> 2u = 0

=> u = 0

now for t = 1/2 sec

S = 0 + (1/2)(10)(1/2)²

=> S = 1.25 m
