If the angle between the incident ray and mirror is 40 degree , then the angle of incidence will be 50 degree. Then the angle of reflection will 50 degree ( angle of incidence = angle of reflection). The angle between the incident ray and the reflected ray will be the sum of angle of incidence and the angle of reflection. Thus 50 degree + 50 degree = 100 degree.
