If an object at a distance of 6400 km from the center of the earth weighs 50N , what will be its weight if it is shifted to 12800 km from the center of the earth?

here,

i am writing the answer in the variables  by which we generally denote the values.

soln: Let k = GMm

now,

F =  GMm/R²

50 N = K/(6400)²

K=50 N×(6400)²-------------------------------------1

NOW when distance is 12800 km,

F =  GMm/R²

F = 50 N×(6400)²/(12800)²

F = 50 N/4

   =12.5 N

WEIGHT OF THE OBJECT AT 12800 KM FROM THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH   = 12.5 N
