1.The farmer brought a baby mongoose in the house because they had their own baby and there were many snakes around there house. The mongoose would
kill them and the baby would be safe.
2.Mongoose would kill a snake, so he can kill a baby also. Hence, farmers wife didn't want to leave baby alone.
