Explanation:

Given If apparent dip at a place 45° to the magnetic  meridian is 30°, then true dip at that place will be

(1) 30°

(2) 45°

(3) Less than 30° (4) Greater than 30°

  • Now S’ = 30 degree, θ = 45 degree s = ?
  • Now kinetic field Bh’ = Bh cos θ
  •                                                     = Bh cos 45
  •                                          So Bh’ = Bh / √2 -----------1
  •            Now tan Δ’ = Bv / Bh’ (vertical component of magnetic field)
  •   So  Bv / Bh’ = Bv / Bh / √2
  • Or Bv / Bh’ = √2 Bv / Bh
  • Or tan Δ’ = √2 tan Δ
  • Or tan Δ = 1/√3 x √2
  • Or tan Δ = 1 / √6
  • Or Δ = tan ^-1 (1 / √6)

Or it will be 22.2 degree
