Correct Question :- If area of two similar triangles are 81cm² and 49 cm² and the perimeter of the first triangle is 63 cm and the two sides of triangle second is 10 cm and 12 cm respectively. What is the thrid side ?

Solution :-

we know that,

  • when two ∆'s are similar, the ratio of areas of both ∆'s = Ratio of square of there corresponding sides and perimeters .

So,

→ first ∆ perimeter / Second ∆ perimeter = √(first ∆ area/second ∆ area)

→ 63 / Second ∆ perimeter = √(81/49)

→ 63 / Second ∆ perimeter = 9/7

→ Second ∆ perimeter = 49 cm

then,

→ Third side = 49 - (10 + 12) = 27 cm (Ans.)

Note :- since 10 + 12 < 27 . sum of two sides of ∆ is not greater than third side . Given ∆ is not possible to formed .
