If concentrated H2SO4 is added to NACL liberating HCL gas.

• There will be two types of reaction,in one reaction the litmus paper change its colour and the another one didn't change its colour

The two reactions are

1. H2SO4+NaCl——›NaHSO4+HCl

2. H2SO4+2NaCl——›Na2SO4+2HCl

the first reaction, acidic salt is obtained while in the second reaction, neutral salt is obtained. We know that litmus can change its colour when it is acidic or basic in nature ,but when it is neutral, the the colour will remain unchanged.

•In the first reaction the colour can be changed but in second reaction litmus paper's colour can't be changed.

that's why we can say that in second reaction litmus paper does not change it colour when dipped in the solution of H2SO4 and NACL
