Let the cost price of 1 article = x

Find the cost price of the 15 articles:

15 articles = 15x

Find the selling price of the

15 articles:

15 articles = 12x

Find the profit/loss:

Since the selling price is less than the cost price

⇒ It is a loss

Loss = 15x - 12x = 3x

Find the loss percentage:

Loss percentage = 3x/15x x 100 = 20%

Answer: He made a loss of 20%

Answer:

20 %

Step-by-step explanation:

let the CP of 1 article be x,

then CP of 12 articles be 12x

now by selling the 15 articles we get the CP of only 12 articles

so the CP of 15 articles will be 15x

now, CP = 15x for 15 articles

SP = 12x for 15 articles

loss = CP - SP

       = 15x - 12x = 3x

now,

loss % = loss / CP * 100

           = 3x / 15x * 100

           = 1 / 5 * 100

loss % = 20 %
