if density of 2 molal sucrose solution is 1.4 gm/mL at 25°C, find osmotic pressure.

Given density = 1.4 g/ml, Molecular weight = 342, m = 2.


Molarity M = (1000 * m * d)/(1000 * m * Molecular weight)


= (1000 * 2 * 1.4)/(1000 * 2 * 342)


= 1.662 M



Now,


Osmotic pressure = iMRT


= 1 * 1.662 * 0.082 * 298


= 40.6 atm.
