\frac{\Delta A}{A}=2 \frac{\Delta R}{R}

Here

ΔA/A => Percentage change in area

ΔR/R => Percentage change in radius or diameter

Given that,

ΔR/R = 25% = 25/100 = 1/4

Putting this value in the equation we get,

ΔA/A = 2ΔR/R

ΔA/A = 2 * 1/4 = 1/2

ΔA/A = 1/2 * 100 = 50%

When diameter or radius is decreased by 25% the area of the sphere decreases by 50%
