Total no. of outcomes=6 , when a die is thrown then prime no. are 2,3 and 5 and composite numbers are4 and 6.then favourable outcomes=5 now, p(getting either a prime number or a composite number) =5/6.

affan675: plz explain why you take out favorable outcome as 5
akanshamathur13: ok
akanshamathur13: look it, according to question, when a die is thrown then prime no. will be 2,3and5 and composite numbers will be 4 and 6 then we have to count no. that we have because question is asking either prime or composite all right so. when we count then we have total 5 no. so, no. of favourable outcomes are 5 l hope it helps you and you can ask again if you have any doubt.
affan675: thanx
affan675: best explaination
akanshamathur13: Thanks
rakesh25121993: yaaa i made a mistake....1 is not a composite number becoz it has 1 positive factor ...
