Answer:

  • Dilute HCl is added to ‘iron sulphide compound’ to form ‘hydrogen sulphide gas’.
  • Hydrogen sulphide is a gas which has a foul smelling that resembles an ‘odour of rotten eggs’.
  • The molecular formula of hydrogen gas is \mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{S}.

Properties of hydrogen sulphide gas are as follows:

  • It is a colourless gas.
  • It is heavier than air.
  • It is more poisonous gas.
  • It has more corrosive nature.
  • It is highly flammable.
  • And it is more explosive.
