If each side of a cube is doubled, how many times will its surface area increase?

Let the length of each side of the cube be s.

We know that surface area = 6s^2.

Given that each side of a cube is doubled.

The new surface area = 6(2s)^2

                                      = 24s^2.



Therefore the surface area increases by 4 times.
