here is a common delusion that the change of the seasons is caused because the orbit of the Earth is not a perfect circle and it gets colder when it’s further.

But it’s easy to realize that it’s not right. If it was true, when there is a winter in Europe or North America, the Earth would be on a distant part of the orbit. But the same time there is summer on the southern hemisphere. And there is winter when the Earth is near the sun.

The change of the seasons is caused by the tilt of the axis. the hemisphere which is affected by the sunlight every day is getting warm.

There would still be days and nights, but the wouldn’t be 6 months long days and nights on the poles.

The temperature change on the zones would never occur. There would be the same climate in Tanzania and Finland. Nearly all the ice would melt and it would become colder on equator and warmer near the poles.

Lots of species would die, the surface of the land would get smaller while big part of it would be covered with water as sea level would be higher.

But there would be significantly less animals killed for their fur to make warm coats - there would be much less need for them any more.
