Explanation:

In a cell cycle, DNA is always synthesized in S phase irrespective of mitosis or meiosis. In addition, DNA content of the cell doubles after the S phase however, number of chromosomes remains the same i.e. 2n.

Now, haploid DNA content of the cell is given as 5pg.

Hence, 10 pg must be the DNA content of a normal diploid cell of the same organism.

Now, as we know DNA contents doubles after S phase, hence, the DNA content in G₂ phase would be

2 x 10 pg which comes out to be

20 pg..
