if father is twice as old as his son and also 29 yrs older than his son. What is the age of father?

Hey
Let age of father = x
let age of son = y
Case 1 ≈ Age of father = twice son
x = 2(y)
x = 2y ≈ x - 2y = 0....¹
Case 2≈age of father = 29 more than son
x = y + 29
x - y = 29
By elimination,
x - 2y = 0
x - y = 29

y = -29
put in ¹
x - 2(-29) = 0
x + 58 = 0
x = -58
Age can't be in minus..
Then, Age of father is 58.
Age of son is 29.
