Given,

Faulty freezing point = 5°C

Faulty boiling point = 95°C

Given reading = 50°C

For, calculating the error free actual reading we have to apply the C/100 = (x-l)/(u-l) formula ,where C is actual error free reading, x is the given reading, l is freezing point and u is boiling point. (This formula is only applicable when the given readings are in celcius.)

So,

The actual error free reading

C/100 = (x-l)/(u-l)

C/100 = (50-5)/(95-5)

C = (45/90) × 100

C = 50

Hence,the actual reading will be also 50°C.
