The remainder will be less than or equal to zero.

For ex: let g (x) = divisor

and f (x) = dividend

g (x)= quadratic poly nomial

g (x) = ax^2 + bx +c

Degree of f (x) = 4

Degree of g (x) = 2

So, degree of quotient = 4-2 = 2.

Here, you can see that the degree of r (x) =2 has degree 1
