if from any point on the common chord of two intersecting circles ,tangents be drawn to the circles,prove that they are equal

I didn't get the question. How can a tangent drawn from a point on the common chord of two intersecting circles be equal... I mean that's not possible because A POINT ON THAT CHORD WILL BE INSIDE THE CIRCLES AND TANGENTS ARE DRAWN FROM A POINT THAT IS 'OUTSIDE' THE CIRCLE .
