If you’re trying to use these in a persuasive essay, the best alternative to these phrases is skipping the phrases altogether. Instead of saying “I think that most ostriches are uglier than emus,” just say, “Ostriches are uglier than emus.”

We’ll know you wrote the words, so we’ll know these are your thoughts and feelings. There’s no need to come out and say it. And your words will sound more persuasive if you state them as fact rather than preface them with a reminder that these are just thoughts that may be true.
