Let the number be x.

2/5 of a number = 2/5 x

According to question

$( \frac{2}{5} \times x )+ 2 = x \\ \\ \frac{2x}{5} = x - 2 \\ \\ \frac{2x}{5} - x = - 2 \\ \\ \frac{2x}{5} - \frac{5x}{5} = - 2 \\ \\ \frac{2x - 5x}{5} = - 2 \\ \\ - 3x = - 2 \times 5 \\ \\ x = \frac{ - 10}{ - 3} \\ \\ x = \frac{10}{3} \\ \\ x = 3 \frac{1}{3}$

So, the number is 10/3 .
