Philosophy contributes to life by means of thought-experiments.

While thought-experiments don't create all the things we see around us like tax accounting software or triple-decker sandwiches - they make them come about faster, cheaper and with less negative consequences.

That's because things we haven't thought through properly can be very costly and dangerous.
