It is a hypoglycemic hormone and is given subcutaneously to control/regulate blood sugar level in type 1 diabetes mellitus. If insulin is given to a normal person, it will cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level).

priyanka67: I m asking that
priyanka67: if insulin is directly injected into blood vessels then what will happen ?
priyanka67: because we can't inject insulin directly into blood and also can't take it orally...
rohit710: Injecting into muscle not only hurts, but it can result in much faster insulin uptake, creating a hypoglycemia risk. ... Even very lean people would be highly unlikely to inject into muscle tissue using today's needles. And most people have plenty of subcutaneous fat to inject
priyanka67: Thanks
priyanka67: but I know this..
rohit710: My pleasure
priyanka67: I think if we inject insulin into blood then the person will die
priyanka67: so o wanted to know the mechanism for that. but any ways thank you
rohit710: I think this can happen in several different ways - hitting a blood vessel, hitting muscle, or hitting tissue damaged by previous injections.
