If it were possible for a gas in a container to reach the temperature 0 K, its pressure would be zero. Would the molecules not collide with the walls? Would they not transfer momentum to the walls?

If the pressure is zero, the molecules will not collide with the walls and the momentum will not be transferred to the walls.

Explanation:

  • This is due to the pressure of a gas that is formed due to the collision of molecules with the container walls.
  • The product of the mass and velocity of an object is linear momentum, simply momentum, or translational momentum in Newtonian mechanics. It is a vector quantity that possess both a magnitude and a direction.
