Given:

L is inversely proportional to √M

L = 6 when M = 9

To Find:

The value of M when L = 3

Solution

L is inversely proportional to √M

⇒ L = k/√M

Given L = 6 when M = 9:

L = k/√M

6 = k/√9

6 = k/3

k = 18

Equation:

L = k/√M

⇒ L = 18/√M

Find the value of M when L = 3

L = 18/√M

3 = 18/√M

3√M = 18

√M = 6

M = 6²

M = 36

Answer: M = 36

Note:

I have decided not to complicate the working by adding the “±" in so that the solution is easier to understand.

However, we do know that √9 = ±3.

Therefore k = ±18

Which will then result in the answer M = ± 36

Answer:

M is equal to 2

Let the m is equal to x, then

9/6=3/x

9×x=3×6

9x=18

x=18/9

x=2
