If the lines l and m are parallel to each other then the corresponding angles would be equal as well . That gives us the following equation ,

( 3x + 20) = ( 5x - 8 )

20 + 8 = 5x - 3x

28 = 2x

$\sf\implies\:\dfrac{28}{2}\:=\:x$

x = 14

Therefore the value of x is 14
