If log10 3 = 0.477, then find the number of digits in 3^40​

Log10 (3) = 0.447

So 10^(0.447) = 3

Multiplying 10^40 on both sides :

10^(0.447+40) = 3 × 10^40

10^(40.447) = 3 × 10^40

So number of digits :

= 1 + number of zeros (power of 10)

[we are adding 1 to account for the three.]

= 1+40

= 41 digits.
