The kinetic energy of a body is given by:

Ek=12mv2

Let the changed mass be m′ and changed velocity be v′ .

Then,

m′v′=2m=12v

E′k=12m′(v′)2

E′k=12(2m)(12v)2

E′k=122m⋅14v2

E′k=12Ek

Hence, the kinetic energy is halved or decreases by 50%.
