Given : median is 5 quartile deviation is 2.5

To Find : coefficient of quartile deviation

Solution:

coefficient of quartile deviation   =  (Q₃ - Q₁)/(Q₃ + Q₁)

median is 5

quartile deviation is 2.5

=> Q₁ = Median - quartile deviation

=>  Q₁ = 5 - 2.5

=> Q₁ = 2.5

=> Q₃ = Median - quartile deviation

=>  Q₃= 5 + 2.5

=> Q₃ = 7.5

coefficient of quartile deviation   =  (Q₃ - Q₁)/(Q₃ + Q₁)

= ( 7.5 - 2.5) / ( 7.5 + 2.5)

= 5 /10

= 1/2

coefficient of quartile deviation is 1/2
