Why ?

We know that, product of roots of a quadratic equation equals the constant term upon coefficient of the leading term.

 =  > ( \alpha )(  -  \frac{1}{2} ) =  -  \frac{5}{4}

 =  >  \alpha   =  \frac{5}{2}
