Lets assume the distance from Ram’s house to the school be X.

When Ram travels at 5 kmph he takes X/5 hours to reach his school.

When Ram travels at 4 kmph he takes X/4 hours to reach his school.

We know that the difference between the time taken with the first case (5 kmph) and the second case (4 kmph) is 10 minutes (5 minutes early v/s 5 minutes late).

10 minutes is 1/6 th of an hour.

Therefore, X/4 - X/5 = 1/6.

This can be rewritten as :

X/20 = 1/6 or X = 20/6 = 3.33 km.

Therefore the distance from Ram’s house to his school is 10/3 or 3.33 km.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

1st case:

Velocity of mohit = 5.4km/hr

Time taken to reach school = 40min=40/60hr = 2/3 hr

We know,

Velocity = displacement /time taken

5.4 = d/(2/3)

d=3.6 km

(unit of displacement are in km and time are in hour).

2nd case:

For same displacement

Velocity =displacement / time taken

8 =3.6/t

t =0.45 hour

t= 0.45 *60 min=27 minutes

Hope this solution will help you.
