OBC NCL for the son/daughter of an employee is determined by the status of employment, position and grade as well as first appointment category and not income from salary.

Actually, it does not depends how much you father earns
There is a total of 52.5% reservation in IITs. Yes, you read it right. The category-wise distribution is as follows:
22.5% - SCs and STs (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes)27% - OBCs (Other Backward Classes)3% - PWD (Persons with disability)
So, if you are a general category student without any physical disability, you are eligible to apply for only 47.5% of the total number of seats.
