If n = 7, we have to write the principal electron shell.

Principal electron shell :

  • Principal electron shell is also known as Ground state or Lower energy state.
  • It is designated by the principal quantum number which is one of four quantum number of an electron revolves around the nucleus of an atom.
  • Principal quantum number, n describes the most probable distance of electrons from the nucleus.
  • n = 1 designates 1st principal electron shell, similarly n =2 designates the 2nd principal electron shell and so on.

Therefore the n = 7 designate the 7th principal electron shell.
