If n = 2 ,

l=0 to ( n-1 ) = 0 , (2–1 ) = 0 , 1 where 0 is s orbital and 1 is p orbital . Therefore there are 2 values for l

m on the other hand , depends on l where for n=2 , we found that l = 2

therefore m = 2l+1 = 2(2)=1 = 5 orientations = -2,-1,0,+1,+2

To sum up , where n=2 , l=2 [ 0,1] , m=5 [ -2,-1,0,+1,+2 ]

Hope it helps
