Let the denominator be x

Numerator = x-2

Rational no. = x-2/x

A.T.Q

x-2-1/x-1 = 1/2

x-3/x-1 = 1/2

2(x-3) = 1( x-1)

2x - 6 = x -1

2x-x = -1 +6

x = 5

Rational no. = 5-2/5 = 3/5

Answer:

3/5

Step-by-step explanation:

let the denominator be = x

numerator be = x-2

when 1 is subtracted from both numerator and denominator

x - 2 - 1 / x - 1

x-3 / x - 1 = 1 / 2

1(x-1)=2(x-3)

x - 1 = 2x - 6

2 x - x = -1 + 6

x=5

= 5-2 / 5

= 3/5

∴3/5 is the rational number
