Given:

If one of the rectangular components of a force p is 3p/5.

To Find:

The other component.

Solution:

To find the other component we will follow the following steps:

As we know,

For rectangular components force is calculated by the formula:

Force =  \sqrt{ { {f1}^{2}  +  {f2}^{2} + f1f2cos90 } }

Angel is taken as 90° because both the forces are perpendicular.

Now,

Put the given values in the above equation we get,

p =  \sqrt{ { { (\frac{3p}{5}) }^{2}  +  {f2}^{2} + 0} }

 {p}^{2}  -  {( \frac{3p}{5} )}^{2}  =  {(f2)}^{2}

 \frac{ {25p}^{2}   - {9p}^{2} }{25}  =  { \frac{16p}{25} }^{2}  = f2

So,

 \frac{4p}{5}  = f2

Henceforth, the other component is 4p\5.
