Let the side of the square be x m

By question,

Area of rectangle + 9 = Area of square

Length of rectangle = x - 2

Breadth of rectangle = x - 1

Area = l*b

Area of square = x^2

Now,

l*b + 9 = x^2

(x-2)(x-1) + 9 = x^2

x^2 - x - 2x + 2 + 9 = x^2

-3x = -2-9

-3x = -11

x = 11/3m

Thus, side of the square is 11/3m
