let number:- x
1/3x = x-10
x-3x/3 = -10
-2x/3 = -10
x = -10*3/-2
x = 15

Given : One third of a number is 10 less than original number.

Let us suppose that the original number is x
Then, According to the question,

 \frac{1}{3} \times x = x- 10

 = > \frac{x}{3} = x - 10

 = > \frac{x }{3} - x = - 10

 = > \frac{x - 3x}{3} = - 10

 = > \frac{ - 2x}{3} = - 10

 = > - 2x = - 10 \times 3

 = > - 2x = - 30

 = > - x = \frac{ - 30}{2}

 = > - x = - 15

 = > x = 15

Hence, the original number is 15.
That's your answer.

Hope it'll help.. :-D
