Procedure :

We have to find the value of a first by satisfying f(x) with it's zero (- 3). Since (- 3) is an integral value, we will surely get the value of a as an integer and we will be able to factorise f(x) in order to find other zeroes.

Solution :

The given polynomial is f(x) = x² + a

Since (- 3) is a zero of f(x),

f(- 3) = 0

⇒ (- 3)² + a = 0

⇒ 9 + a = 0

⇒ a = - 9

Then, f(x) = x² - 9 = (x + 3) (x - 3)

The other zero can be found by taking

x - 3 = 0

⇒ x = 3

Therefore, the other zero is 3
