p/q= 5/4
p=a+b
q=a-b
placing values of p and q in the question we get:-
a+b/a-b =5/4
by componendo and dividendo we get--
(a+b) +(a-b)/(a+b)-(a-b) =5+4/5-4
2a/2b=9/1
a/b=9/1
or we can do it this way too
a+b/a-b =5/4
4 (a+b)=5 (a-b)
4a+4b= 5a-5b
5b+4b=5a-4 a
9b=a
9=a/b
therefore a/b =9/1
p=a+b
q=a-b
placing values of p and q in the question we get:-
a+b/a-b =5/4
by componendo and dividendo we get--
(a+b) +(a-b)/(a+b)-(a-b) =5+4/5-4
2a/2b=9/1
a/b=9/1
or we can do it this way too
a+b/a-b =5/4
4 (a+b)=5 (a-b)
4a+4b= 5a-5b
5b+4b=5a-4 a
9b=a
9=a/b
therefore a/b =9/1
