Product of zeroes = c/a
pq = q
p = 1
Sum of zeroes = -b/a
p+q = -p
q = 2p
q = 2×1
q = 2

SOLUTION :
Option (a) is correct : p = 1 ,q = - 2
Given : ‘p’ & 'q’ are the roots of the equation x² - px + q = 0
On comparing the given equation with ax² + bx + c = 0
Here, a = 1 , b = - p , c = q
Sum of zeroes = - b/a
p + q = - b/a
p + q = - p/1
p + q = - p
q = - p - p
q = - 2p ………..(1)
Product of zeroes = c/a
p × q = c/a
pq = q/1
p = q/q
p = 1
On putting the value of p = 1 in eq 1
q = - 2p
q = - 2(1)
q = - 2
Hence, the value of p is 1 & q = - 2.
