Given that,
p (x) = x + 4  .......... (1)
p (x) + p (-x) = ?
Now,
p (-x) = - x + 4    ............. (2)
Here, we only change the sign of the variable 'x' while '4' remains constant.
Now we add equations (1) and (2) , we get:
p (x) + p (-x) = (x + 4) + (- x + 4)
p (x) + p (-x) = x + 4 - x + 4
p (x) + p (-x) = 4 + 4
p (x) + p (-x) = 8
Which shows that option (d) is correct.
Hopefully its helpful.
Thanks.
