we have,

p(x) =x+p

p(-x) =-x+p

p(-x) + p(x) = x+p -x+p

p(x) + p(-x) = 2p

p(x)=x+p

thenp(-x)= -x+p

So,p(x)+p(-x)= (x+p) + (-x+p)

= 2p
